Katy Perry (born Katheryn Hudson on October 25, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter. Her 2008 single "I Kissed a Girl" has become a worldwide hit, topping Billboard Hot 100, Canadian Hot 100, the UK singles chart, the Australian ARIA Charts, and peaking at number 1 on the Worldwide Charts.
"I Kissed a Girl" is a MTV Video Music Award nominated song, and the second single from Katy Perry's album One of the Boys.
The song gained a significant amount of controversy after its rise in popularity due to its perceived promotion of homosexuality and promiscuity .
The video directed by Kinga Burza features a Moulin Rouge and burlesque-type setting with scenes containing Katy, along with many other flamboyantly-dressed women, dancing to the song.
