"Paramore" is an American rock band that formed in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004 consisting of Hayley Williams (lead vocals/keyboards), Josh Farro (lead guitar/backing vocals), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar), Zac Farro (drums), and Taylor York (rhythm guitar). The group released their debut album All We Know Is Falling in 2005, second album, Riot! in 2007, which was certified platinum in the US and gold in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. Brand New Eyes, Paramore's third album, was released on September 29, 2009.
"Brick by Boring Brick" is the second single from Paramore's third album Brand New Eyes.
The music video was filmed in Los Angeles on October 8, 2009. It was directed by Meiert Avis (New Found Glory, U2).
In an interview with MTV, bassist Jeremy Davis explained that the band had created a treatment for the video before receiving further ideas from several directors. The video will be Paramore's first to not be performance based and some of the members of the band are only seen for a short period of time. It is also their first video to be filmed in front of green screen, and to have "a whole story behind it", with acting. Guitarist Josh Farro likened the video to the 2006 Spanish fantasy film Pan's Labyrinth. It was originally set to premiere on November 17 on The Hills, but was later postponed. The video was eventually released on Paramore.net on November 23.
